On 19 September 2024, Moscow, Russian Federation, a working meeting was held at the headquarters of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) between Maxim Yermolovich, Minister of Competition and Antimonopoly Regulation of the EEC, and Alexey Borodin, RCC Director General.
The parties discussed the prospects for joint activities of the EEC and RCC on a number of topical issues in the introduction, development and provision of communication services and information and telecommunication technologies in the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (hereinafter - the Union), including the formation of more favourable conditions for the development of communication services and regulation of their cost in international roaming.
‘I am sure that by joint efforts we will achieve comfortable tariffs for the population of the Union states, i.e. such a fee for communication services in international roaming in the territories of our states, the size of which is as close as possible to the ‘home’ tariff’ - said Mr.Ermolovich.
During the conversation, Mr.Borodin expressed confidence that the joint ‘Action Plan (’roadmap‘) on cooperation between the Eurasian Economic Commission and the Regional Commonwealth in the field of communications for 2024-2027’, the signing of which is scheduled on the margins of the Eurasian Economic Forum (Yerevan, Republic of Armenia, 30 September-01 October 2024), will lay a solid foundation for effective and systematic joint work of the EEC and the RCC in the interests of the citizens of their Member-States.
The parties considered the prospects of participation in joint profile events, as well as holding consultations in the field of telecommunications.
The next business meeting of RCC and EEC experts on the issue of feed-in tariffs is scheduled for the end of October 2024.
