On 09 September 2024 the 26th meeting of the RCC Commission on Regulation of the Usage of the Radio Frequency Spectrum and Satellite Orbits (RCC Commission on RFS and SO) and its Working Bodies was opened in Brest.
The meeting was opened by Valery Butenko, Chairman of the RCC Commission on RFS and SO, who in his welcoming words to the meeting noted an important date for the Commission - the 75th anniversary of the Radio Research Institute, whose staff has been making a significant contribution to the work of the Commission for many years.
The participants of the meeting were welcomed by:
- Aleksey Ivashkin, Director General of Beltelecom,
- Sergey Borovsky, Director of the Republican Unitary Enterprise for Supervision of Telecommunications ‘BelGIE’,
- Alexei Borodin, RCC Director General.
A video message by Mario Maniewicz, Director of the Radiocommunication Bureau of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), was also presented to the attention of the Commission.
As part of the opening session, a minute of silence was held in memory of Eugeny Shestakov, a leading engineer of the ITU Radiocommunication Bureau, whose professionalism and profound knowledge made a significant contribution to the development of radiocommunication at the international level.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Communications Adminiatrations of the Republic of Armenia, Republic of Azerbaijan, Republic of Belarus, Republic of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Russian Federation, Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as representatives of the ITU Radiocommunication Bureau, ITU Regional Office for the CIS Region, International Amateur Radio Union Region 1 (IARU-R1), GSMA, Huawei, Eutelsat-OneWeb, GTNT, Inter-American Telecommunication Commission of the Organisation of American States (CITEL), Asia-Pacific Telecommunity (APT).
The meeting discussed a number of key issues related to preparations for the World Radiocommunication Conference and the Radiocommunication Assembly 2027 in the ITU regional telecommunication organisations, presentations were also made by representatives of CITEL and APT, and the European Conference of Postal and Telecommunication Administrations (CEPT) provided a written report.
The meeting also considered the results of the joint 60th meeting of the RCC Board of the Communications Administrations Heads and the 30th meeting of the Coordinating Council of the CIS Member-States on Informatisation at the RCC, in particular, the decision to convene the Advisory Group of Experts under the RCC Director General on the coordination of radio spectrum and communications. The preparation of the RCC Communications Administrations for the meeting of the Working Groups of the 7th Study Group (Scientific Services) was touched upon.
In addition, the participants of the meeting discussed and agreed on the changes in the RCC Commission's on RFS and SO management structure and touched upon the preparation of RCC Communications Administrations for the meeting of the Working Groups of the 7th Study Group (Scientific Services), which will be held on 16-27 September 2024 in Almaty, Republic of Kazakhstan.
The Working Groups of the RCC Commission on RFS and SO will start their activities on 10 September 2024.
The closing meeting of the RCC Commission on RFS and SO will be held on 13 September 2024.
