On 31 May, the 56th meeting of the Interstate Council on Antimonopoly Policy (ICAP) was held in Dushanbe.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Secretary General of the CIS Denis Trefilov, Director of the Department of Economic Cooperation of the CIS Executive Committee Mikhail Myskin, RCC Director General Alexei Borodin, representatives of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Republic of Armenia, Republic of Belarus, Republic of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Russian Federation, Republic of Tajikistan, Republic of Uzbekistan.

The meeting was opened by Maxim Shaskolsky, Chairman of the Interstate Council on Antimonopoly Policy, Head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service.

First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan, Hokim Kholikzoda made a welcoming speech. According to him, the creation of an equal and fair competitive environment and its consistent promotion is a prerequisite for economic development, so any measures aimed at this goal are welcomed.

Denis Trefilov, Deputy Secretary General of the CIS, emphasised in his speech that the protection and development of competition and the creation of an effective system of antimonopoly regulation are a priority for the CIS Member-States.

RCC Director General, Alexei Borodin spoke on promising areas of co-operation between the RCC and the ICAP.

During the meeting, the participants discussed the most notable developments in the CIS Member-State in the field of antimonopoly policy and approved the Report ‘On the activities of the antimonopoly authorities of the CIS Member-States in certain markets of socially important goods in modern conditions’.

They also heard information on the activities of the Headquarters for joint investigations of antimonopoly law violations in CIS Member-State and the Coordinating Council on Advertisement at the ICAP.
