The plenary meeting of the European Conference of Postal and Telecommunication Administrations' Committee on Interaction with the International Telecommunication Union (Com-ITU) was held on 7 May 2024 under the chairmanship of Christiana Flutur.

Seizo Onoe, Director of the ITU Telecommunication Standardization Bureau, welcomed the meeting and wished the participants constructive and successful work.

The agenda of the meeting was devoted to the preparation of the European region for the upcoming major ITU events.

The meeting included the election of the Com-ITU Chair. With a majority of votes, the candidate from Great Britain, Oli Bird, was elected as the new Chair of the Committee for a four-year period.

A representative of the Executive Committee of the Regional Commonwealth in the Field of Communications (RCC), on behalf of the Chairman of the ITU Working Group of the RCC Commission for the Coordination of International Cooperation, made a presentation on the preparation of RCC Communications Administrations for the upcoming ITU events, including the ITU Council Summer Session, the 2024 World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly and the 2025 World Telecommunication Development Conference.

The Com-ITU meeting was also attended by representatives of the ITU secretariat, who presented information on preparations for the upcoming 2024 World Summit on the Information Society Forum, the Global Summit on Artificial Intelligence for Good, the ITU Council Summer Session and the World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly.
