On July 24, 2023, at the initiative of the Universal Postal Union International Bureau, a working meeting was held with the Regional Commonwealth in the Field of Communications via videoconference.

The above meeting was attended by Nicholas Bilhoto, Coordinator for Latin America, the Caribbean and Postal Sector Modernization, Acting Coordinator for Europe and the CIS, and Irina Asatryan, Assistant for Europe, the CIS and Capacity Development Program, on behalf of the International Bureau of the Universal Postal Union.

Natalia Zorya, Deputy General-Director of the RCC Executive Committee, Olga Zhitnikova, Deputy Chair of the RCC UPU Working Group, and representatives of JSC Russian Post and the RCC Executive Committee participated on behalf of the Regional Commonwealth in the Field of Communications.

The meeting included an introduction to the Coordinator for Latin America, the Caribbean and Postal Modernization, the acting coordinator for Europe and the CIS. Information was provided on additional meetings for the UPU Extraordinary Congress and meetings of restricted unions.

Natalya Zorya provided information on preparations for the 55/44th joint-meeting of the RCC Commission on Postal Communications and the RCC Postal Operators Board, where the following issues will be considered: the progress of preparations for the UPU Extraordinary Congress, the implementation of the action plan to implement the decisions of the 27th UPU Congress and the Abidjan Postal Strategy for 2022-2025, the implementation of the UPU Regional Development Plan for Europe and Central Asia for 2022-2025.

Working points on further interaction between the IB UPU and the RCC were also discussed.

Acting Europe and CIS Coordinator Nicholas Bilhoto thanked the participants for a productive meeting and expressed hope for further cooperation.
