From August 29 to September 2, 2022, the 3rd African Preparatory Meeting for WRC-23 was held in Lusaka and via videoconferencing.

The meeting was attended by delegates from member countries, as well as observers from international and regional organizations.

The meeting was attended by the RCC delegation, including representatives of the Communications Administrations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as the RCC Executive Committee.

As part of the above meeting, on September 2, 2022, a Session of speeches by candidates for ITU leadership positions was held.

The session was opened and the ATU Secretary General John Omo delivered a welcoming speech.

Also, the Chairman of the 3rd meeting, Ms. Mutinta Cholve, addressed the candidates with a welcoming speech.

In this session, candidates for ITU leadership positions were nominated by the RCC:

- Rashid Ismailov, representative of the Communications Administration of the Russian Federation, candidate for the post of ITU Secretary General;

- Sahiba Hasanova, representative of the Communications Administration of the Republic of Azerbaijan, candidate for the Radio Regulations Committee;

- Nikolay Varlamov, representative of the Communications Administration of the Russian Federation, candidate for the Radio Regulations Committee;

- Rizat Nurshabekov, representative of the Communications Administration of the Republic of Kazakhstan, candidate for the Radio Regulations Committee.

At the end of the meeting, ATU Secretary General John Omo and the Chairman of the meeting, Ms. Mutinta Cholwe, thanked the candidates and observers for their speeches.
