On April 21, 2022, the Extraordinary Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Telecommunication Community (APT) for WTDC-21 was held via videoconferencing.
The meeting was attended by over 100 delegates from Asian countries, international and regional organizations, including the RCC. Representatives of the CAs from the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation, as well as employees of the RCC Executive Committee, took part from the RCC.
The above meetings were opened and APT Secretary General Masanori Kondo and APT Chairman WTDC-21 Ahmat Sharafat delivered a welcoming speech.
The purpose of the APT Extraordinary Meeting was to continue the exchange of relevant information for the upcoming WTDC-21, including input from other regions and identify possible positions on important topics.
A presentation on ITU preparations for WTDC-21 was made by Atsuko Okuda, Regional Director, ITU Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific.
The agenda included the following items:
1. Opening;
2. Adoption of the agenda (Doc. APT WTDC21-e/ADM-01 (Rev.1);
3. Summary Report of the 4th meeting of the APT Preparatory Group for WTDC21-4 (Doc. APT WTDC21-4/OUT-19);
4. Preparation of ITU and other international and regional organizations for WTDC-21 (Doc. APT WTDC21-e/INF-08, INF-04, INF-05, INF-06, INF-07);
5. Information on WTDC-21 on host countries (Doc. APT WTDC21-e/INF-09);
6. Update on TDAG/IRM discussion and APT preparation (APT Doc WTDC21-e/INP-04, INP-05, INP-06, INP-07, INP-08);
7. APT coordination during WTDC-21 (Doc. APT WTDC21-e/INP-09, INP-10, INP-11);
8. Any other questions (Doc. APT WTDC21-e/INF-01, INF-02, INF-03);
9. Closing.
Further, the participants moved on to discuss preparations for WTDC-21 within the framework of ITU and regional organizations. Reports on the preparation for the conference from CEPT and CITEL were presented.
From the RCC, the coordinator for the preparation of the RCC CAs for the WTDC, Arseniy Plossky, made an overview of the preparations for WTDC-21.
At the end of the meeting, APT Secretary General Masanori Kondo and APT WTDC-21 Chairman Ahmat Sharafat thanked all participants for their reports and contributions to the work of APT.
