On 28 September 2021, Minsk hosted the opening ceremony of the International Research and Practice Conference "30 Years of the Commonwealth of Independent States: Results, Prospects" at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.

The Conference summed up the results of the 30th anniversary of the Commonwealth of Independent States and drew up specific recommendations on enhancing the effectiveness of the Commonwealth for the future.

More than 300 representatives of the Commonwealth countries participated in the forum: scientists and senior staff of the academies of sciences and scientific associations of the Commonwealth countries, employees of the CIS Executive Committee, leading scientists and specialists, cultural figures. At the invitation of the CIS Executive Committee, Almazbek Kadyrkulov, Deputy General-Director of the RCC Executive Committee, attended the conference.

The conference paid particular attention to the state of science and the application of scientific achievements in the practical sphere. The topic of increasing interest in the research activities of young specialists was considered, an inter-national mechanism for exchanging experience and the organization of internships for budding researchers was elaborated.

The work of the scientists was held in four sections: "Economic interaction, humanitarian cooperation and improvement of legal framework of the CIS Member States", "Science and innovation cooperation of the CIS Member States", "Current problems of epidemiology in the CIS Member States: fundamental and clinical aspects" and "Cooperation of the CIS Member States in the field of security, fighting crime and terrorism".

The Conference included the meeting of the Council of the International Association of Academies of Sciences (IAAS) and the meeting of the Council of Young Scientists of the IAAS.

The Conference was organized by the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the CIS Executive Committee with the support of the Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation of the CIS Member States.
