On September 3, 2026, on the sidelines of the World Telecommunication/ICT Policy Forum in Nassau, The Bahamas, the third informal interregional preparatory meeting for PP‑26 was held.

The meeting, chaired by the appointed Chairman of PP‑26, Mr. Ahmad Abdullah Al‑Muslemani, was attended by representatives of the six main ITU regional telecommunication organizations (RTOs):

•  The African Telecommunications Union (ATU)

•  The Asia‑Pacific Telecommunity (APT)

•  The Inter‑American Telecommunication Commission (CITEL)

•  Council of Arab Ministers of Telecommunications and Information Technology adopted the Arab Digital. League of Arab States (LAS )

•  The European Conference of Postal and Telecommunications Administrations (CEPT)

•  The Regional Commonwealth in the Field of Communications (RCC)

A representative of the Republic of Cuba, which is not a member of any RTO, also took part.

The meeting participants discussed:

•  The status of preparations for PP‑26 by the host country and the ITU

•  The RTOs' preparations for the upcoming Conference, with an emphasis on the proposed draft resolutions

•  Candidatures from the regions for the posts of Chair and Vice‑Chair of the Conference Committees.

During the discussions, Mr. Alexey Borodin, the RCC Coordinator for preparations for PP‑26, provided an update on the RCC/CIS region's preparations for PP‑26, paying special attention to the draft RCC Common Proposals and the candidatures from the RCC/CIS region for leadership positions on the Conference Committees.

The next interregional preparatory meeting for PP‑26 is scheduled for October 13–14, 2026, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
