Kazakhstan's Deputy Prime Minister and AI Minister Joins ITU's AI for Good Global Commission

The AI for Good Global Commission is a new high‑level initiative aimed at identifying practical pathways to building trustworthy AI.

Mr. Zhaslan Madiyev, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan, has joined the Commission as the sole representative of the RCC/CIS region. The Commission brings together over 40 leaders of states, international organizations, and the world's largest technology companies.

The Commission is co-chaired by:

  • H.E. Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda
  • Mr. Marc Benioff, Chair, CEO and Co-Founder of Salesforce.

The permanent Vice‑Chair is ITU SecretaryGeneral Ms. Doreen Bogdan‑Martin, and the Union serves as the initiative's secretariat.

On July 8, the Commission held its first meeting on the sidelines of the AI for Good Global Summit in Geneva.

The Commission has defined three key areas of activity designed to unlock the potential of AI while removing barriers to its deployment:

  • AI Trust: Promoting public trust through measures that ensure responsible AI development while enabling innovation and economic resilience
  • AI Access: Building infrastructure, developing capacity, and ensuring readiness for AI deployment
  • AI Impact: Accelerating the use of AI to address global challenges and forging the public‑private commitments.

The Commission intends to regularly review its priorities as new opportunities emerge, ensuring its work remains relevant to evolving conditions and contemporary challenges.

"Zhaslan Madiyev's inclusion in the AI for Good Global Commission is a recognition of Kazakhstan's contribution to the development of international cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence and digital transformation," noted the unified platform of the state bodies of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
