On the sidelines of the GSMA M360 Eurasia Conference, Viasat — a member of the Regional Commonwealth in the Field of Communications (RCC) — showcased technology for sending messages directly from satellite to mobile phones using its Direct‑to‑Device system.

The testing took place with the participation of:

•  Mr. Sherzod Shermatov, Minister of Digital Technologies of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Chairman of the RCC Board of Directors

•  Mr. Alexey Borodin, Director General of the RCC.

The solution developed by Viasat allows messages to be sent directly from a satellite to a device without relying on mobile communication infrastructure, making connectivity available even in remote areas with no operator coverage or cell towers.
