On May 19, 2026, in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, on the eve of the GSMA M360 Eurasia Conference, the second meeting of the Joint Expert Group of the RCC and the CIS Statistical Committee on ICT Statistics (JEG‑ICT) was held.
The meeting was chaired by Mr. Arseniy Plosskiy, a representative of the communications administration of the Russian Federation.
The meeting was attended by representatives of national statistical offices (NSOs) and communications administrations of the RCC/CIS region, representatives of the GSMA, and members and participants of the working (auxiliary) bodies of the RCC.
Participants discussed key areas of interaction between NSOs and RCC/CIS communications administrations. They also examined:
• The key outcomes of the World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC‑25) regarding telecommunications and ICT statistics, which will lay the foundation for preparations for WTDC‑29
• The development of universal acceptance indicators in the digital ecosystem of the RCC/CIS region
• Progress in preparations for the 2026 ITU Plenipotentiary Conference (PP‑26) regarding statistical issues
• Common problems in digital development and telecommunications/ICT related to reporting statistical data to international organizations.
The meeting was moderated by Ms. Tatiana Kuznetsova of the Interstate Statistical Committee of the CIS. As part of the meeting, a seminar was also held, during which participants drew on their country's experiences and spoke about:
• Problems in telecommunications and ICT statistics
• Key trends shaping telecommunications and ICT statistics
• Methods of collecting and producing statistical data.
The next JEG‑ICT meeting is expected to take place from September 22 to 25, 2026, in Uzbekistan, on the sidelines of the annual ICT Week.
