RCC Deputy Director General Delivers Lecture at Special Course for Youth on Internet Governance

The Special Course is organized by the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ — an observer in the working (auxiliary) bodies of the Commonwealth—in advance of the 16th Russian Internet Governance Forum.

The objective of the Special Course is to immerse participants in current issues of Internet governance and digital cooperation at both the global and regional levels.

Special Course Audience

The course brought together 95 participants from six countries:

• Belarus

• Kazakhstan

• Kyrgyzstan

• Russia

• Turkmenistan

• Serbia

Participant Demographics:

Gender: 65% women, 35% men

Age range: 16 to 39 years

Composition: Undergraduate students, graduate students, young professionals

Maria Bolshakova's lecture—the opening session of the Special Course—traced the evolution of the global digital dialogue's foundations and its progress, from the formulation of common principles to the implementation of targeted initiatives. Her presentation covered:

• An examination of the outcomes of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) and the prospects for their implementation, 20 years after its convening

• A presentation of key achievements in the development of global digital cooperation

Current challenges, including digital inequality, cybersecurity and data protection issues, and the regulation of artificial intelligence (AI)

• Particular attention was given to specific mechanisms for translating declarative agreements into practical action.
