On January 14, 2026, ITU Secretary-General Doreen Bogdan-Martin met with RCC Director General Alexey Borodin and Deputy Director General Maria Bolshakova at the ITU headquarters in Geneva.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the region's preparations for the ITU Plenipotentiary Conference 2026 (PP-26), focusing on:

• Key preparatory activities and priority themes for the region at the upcoming Conference.

• The participation of the ITU Secretary-General in the next in-person meeting of RCC "digital" ministers, scheduled for June 5, 2026, in St. Petersburg, Russia. This meeting, provided there is a substantive agenda, will also commemorate the 35th anniversary of the Commonwealth.

Furthermore, the ITU Secretary-General was briefed on the consent obtained from the Swiss authorities for opening an RCC Representation at the ITU in Geneva. The parties agreed on next steps to advance this process jointly.
