From January 12 to 23, 2026, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) is convening meetings in Geneva, Switzerland, for the following Council Working Groups (CWG) and Expert Groups (EG):
• January 12–14: Council Working Group (CWG) on Strategic and Financial Plan
• January 14–16: CWG on Financial and Human Resources
• January 15–16: CWG on the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
• January 19: Expert Group (EG) on the International Telecommunication Regulations (ITRs)
• January 19: CWG on Child Online Protection
• January 20: CWG on the Use of the Six Official Languages of the Union
• January 20: CWG on International Internet-related Public Policy Issues
• January 21–23: Informal Expert Group on World Telecommunication/ICT Policy Forum 2026
This January series of CWG and EG meetings will be the final one before the 2026 ITU Council session and the ITU Plenipotentiary Conference. Its key objectives are to finalize preparatory discussions on issues central to the upcoming Council session and to summarize the groups' work over the four-year period since the last Plenipotentiary Conference.
The meetings will be attended by delegations from RCC communications administrations, RCC members who are ITU Sector Members, and representatives of the RCC Executive Committee.
