Preparations Begin for WSIS Forum 2026

The World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Forum will be held from July 6 to 10, 2026, in Geneva, Switzerland.

The mandate of the WSIS process, including the organization of its forums, has been extended until 2035 by a decision of the UN General Assembly in December.

As part of the preparations for the Forum, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU)—the event's lead organizer—invites all stakeholders to contribute by:

• Participating in the WSIS Prizes contest, which promotes best practices in information and communication technologies (ICTs) that advance the WSIS Action Lines and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The deadline for project submissions is March 15, 2026.

• Providing input through the open consultation process to help shape the Forum's program and develop a forward-looking roadmap for implementing the WSIS outcomes.

Proposals can be submitted until March 20, 2026.

• Populating the WSIS Stocktaking database, a repository of over 19,000 publications on projects, initiatives, and events that advance the WSIS Action Lines, the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the Global Digital Compact.

Participation in the WSIS Forum offers a unique opportunity to showcase your administration's or organization's prominent achievements, projects, and initiatives to a global audience.
