The Regional Commonwealth in the Field of Communications Welcomes New Members

Effective January 1, 2026, the following entities have joined the Regional Commonwealth in the Field of Communications (RCC) with observer status in its working (auxiliary) bodies.

Global Satellite Operator's Association (GSOA)

GSOA unites national, regional, and international satellite operators, coordinating and representing the satellite industry's interests at the global level. The Association's members include approximately 60 leading companies in the field of geostationary (GSO) and non-geostationary (NGSO) satellite systems, such as Intersputnik, Azercosmos, Eutelsat, Thuraya, Viasat, Gilat, Iridium, Airbus, and Project Kuiper (Amazon).

Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO)

MGIMO is one of Russia’s and the world’s leading universities. Operating under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, it offers more than 120 undergraduate and graduate programs across 18 fields of study in the socio-economic domain. MGIMO has two branches in Central Asia, located in Astana and Tashkent. Its experts actively participate in congresses and expert meetings held by multilateral institutions, addressing key issues on the international political agenda. Within the Commonwealth, MGIMO will be represented by its Artificial Intelligence Centre.

Russian Association for Electronic Communications (RAEC)

RAEC represents the interests of approximately 150 leading Russian technology companies. The association promotes the formation of the electronic communications market, supports projects in industry education and science, and helps develop the regulatory framework to protect market participants. Its activities focus on key areas such as internet development and operation, digital literacy improvement, and information technology standardization.

Alliance for the Protection of Children in the Digital Environment

The Alliance unites a dozen leading Russian technology companies. Its main tasks are: enhancing digital literacy among children, parents, and educators; creating and promoting positive, educational content; developing new approaches to protect children online; creating the necessary IT solutions to safeguard personal data; proactively identifying and removing content harmful to children's health and development.

The participation of these new members will bring valuable expertise and practical experience to the Commonwealth's preparations for major ITU conferences and assemblies. It will also assist in shaping common regional positions on key issues of the global digital agenda.
