On December 24, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation S.V. Vershinin met with Director General of the Executive Committee of the Regional Commonwealth in the Field of Communications (RCC) A.S. Borodin. The parties discussed cooperation in the field of information and communication technologies among RCC member states.

The parties exchanged views on the outcomes of the World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC) of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), held in Baku in October.

They emphasized the importance of electing Russian representatives, who have been nominated by the RCC, to leadership positions within ITU working bodies. This, they noted, is essential for advancing the interests of developing countries and ensuring the Union's work remains focused on its technical mandate, free from politicization.

The meeting also focused on coordinating the preparations of RCC participants for the upcoming ITU Plenipotentiary Conference (PP-26), to be held in Doha from November 9 to 27, 2026.
