The GSM Association (GSMA), an RCC member, serves as a global "trade union" organization for the mobile industry. It is also known for its extensive analytical work, producing publications that address both topical global trends and specific regional issues within the sector.
In August, we featured two GSMA regional reviews:
• "Mobile Sector Taxation in Eurasia"
• "The Mobile Economy Eurasia 2025"
Today, we focus on three global publications prepared by the GSMA:
"Vision 2040: Future Spectrum Needs" study:
• assesses spectrum needs during the peak development of 6G, projected for 2035–2040.
• provides a comprehensive assessment of mid-band spectrum requirements for mobile networks.
• aims to assist government bodies in developing a long-term spectrum roadmap, which is essential for ensuring a smooth transition to the networks of the 2030s.
The report "The Impact of Cybersecurity Regulation on Mobile Operators" examines:
• the impact of cybersecurity regulation on mobile operators' ability to counter rapidly evolving threats;
• the associated costs, complexities, and opportunities created by this regulation;
• the role of well-structured policy in enhancing business resilience.
The article "Non-Terrestrial Networks – Opportunities and Challenges" explores the transformative potential of Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN) as a vital complement to terrestrial mobile infrastructure, particularly in bridging connectivity gaps for remote and underserved regions.
