Today, December 19, 2025, the Interstate Statistical Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) held a reporting seminar. The event showcased the key results of the completed three-year "Development of CIS Statistics" Project and outlined the Committee's plans for the coming year, including a proposal to extend the Project for an additional three years.
The seminar was attended by representatives from:
• The Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation
• The Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation
• The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation
• The Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat)
• The CIS Executive Committee
• The Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC)
• The RCC Executive Committee
During the seminar, RCC Director General Alexey Borodin presented the key outcomes and future plans for RCC-CIS Statistical Committee cooperation in 2025-2026. Key initiatives include:
• Establishing a Joint RCC–CIS Statistical Committee Expert Group on ICT Statistics. This group is designed to improve coordination between national statistical services and regional communications administrations. Its focus will be on harmonizing international and regional telecommunication/ICT statistics, including data reported to the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
• The outcomes of the Group's inaugural meeting were reviewed. Plans were confirmed to hold its next meeting with support from the GSMA during the M360 Eurasia conference in Uzbekistan in May 2026.
