During the World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC) in Baku, RCC Director General Alexey Borodin met with Ahmad Abdullah Al-Muslemani, Head of Qatar's Communications Agency and Chairman of the upcoming ITU Plenipotentiary Conference 2026.
The parties discussed key aspects of the preparatory process for the upcoming ITU Plenipotentiary Conference (PP-26), addressing both regional (RCC/CIS) and host country (Qatar) perspectives. They also exchanged views and expectations for the event.
The Conference is scheduled to run for three weeks, from November 9 to 27, 2026, at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center in Qatar.
In the run-up to PP-26, the ITU will organize four interregional preparatory meetings in a hybrid format:
• First Meeting: To be held during the session of ITU Council Working Groups and Expert Groups from January 12 to 23, 2026, in Geneva, Switzerland.
• Second Meeting: To be held during the 2026 session of the ITU Council from April 28 to May 8 in Geneva, Switzerland.
• Third Meeting: To be held within the framework of the 2026 World Telecommunication/ICT Policy Forum (WTPF-26) from June 8 to 11 in Nassau, The Bahamas.
• Fourth Meeting: To be held in the second half of October 2026 in Saudi Arabia, following the deadline for the submission of candidacies for PP elections (October 12).
