The International Telecommunication Union (ITU-T) Telecommunication Standardization Sector Commission, whose Mandate covers future networks and emerging network technologies, will meet from October 28 to November 6, 2025.
The meetings are being held in Tashkent at the IT Park Business Center at the invitation of Sherzod Shermatov, Minister of Digital Technologies of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Russian Union of Telecommunication Unions.
The main objectives of ITU-T SG 13 are:
• studying the requirements, architecture, and APIs for applying AI (including machine learning) in future networks,
• studying the programming and orchestration of AI-enabled network solutions,
• analyzing non-radio aspects of International Mobile Telecommunications (IMT) systems, including IMT 2030,
• conducting research on future computing technologies, in particular cloud computing and data processing in telecommunication networks,
• studying the integration of computing technologies and networking for future network solutions,
• developing standards for quantum networks, including quantum network technologies and quantum key distribution networks (QKDN).
The meetings will, among other things, consider the outcomes of the 2nd meeting of the ITU-T SG 13 Regional Group for Eastern Europe, Central Asia, and Transcaucasia, which was held in St. Petersburg, Russia, from 9 to 11 June 2025.
Specifically, two documents on the topic "Distributed Framework for Federated Learning with Dynamic Client Sampling" will be reviewed:
• a proposal to initiate new work on this topic and
• the basic text of the corresponding draft ITU-T Recommendation.
