According to the French portal Menow, Apple is actively negotiating with SpaceX to implement innovative satellite connectivity technology in future iPhone models, which could be a revolutionary step in the development of mobile communications.
A key feature will be the ability to use full-fledged 5G via a satellite network without the need for a connection to terrestrial base stations or Wi-Fi.
Satellite internet is expected to be available on the following devices scheduled for release in 2026:
• iPhone 18 Pro
• iPhone 18 Pro Max
• A possible version of a foldable iPhone
Currently, existing satellite solutions in the iPhone 14 and later are limited to basic features:
• emergency calling
• location services via Find My
• text messaging
• roadside assistance – using the Globalstar network
The success of the project depends on:
• completion of technical negotiations
• settlement of commercial terms of cooperation
• ensuring technical compatibility of Starlink networks with Apple frequencies
If the project is implemented, Apple will become a pioneer in mobile devices with full-fledged satellite internet, significantly expanding user experience in areas without traditional cellular infrastructure.
