The ITU Space Sustainability Forum has opened in Geneva

The event, taking place October 7-8, is bringing together approximately 900 participants, including high-level decision-makers and subject-matter experts from around the world.

Representatives of the RCC/CIS region, including communications administrations, responsible agencies, and relevant organizations from:
• Azerbaijan
• Armenia
• Kazakhstan
• Russia
• Uzbekistan

Forum participants will discuss issues central to space activities:
• challenges in orbital safety and sustainability,
• managing the deployment of large satellite constellations,
• using space technologies to improve life on Earth,
• new legal and technological challenges in space exploration.

The Forum program also includes preparations for the World Radiocommunication Conference and the Radiocommunication Assembly 2027.

Interestingly, last year's first Forum took place 45 years after the historic 1979 World Radiocommunication Conference, which completely revised the Radio Regulations.

The USSR delegation was then headed by the distinguished radiocommunications specialist Ashot Badalov.
