
Today, on April 11, the 27th meeting of the RCC Commission on Regulation of the Usage of the Radio Frequency Spectrum and Satellite Orbits concluded in Dushanbe.
The main focus is harmonization and preparation for the World Radiocommunication Conference 2027 (WRC-27).
Key decisions and Working Groups' reports:
- RFS harmonization: 6 documents were approved, including a report on the application of communication systems in railway transport and recommendations on harmonization of technical specifications for 5G systems in the frequency band 6425-7125 MHz.
- Development of TV broadcasting: the report on promising technologies (increase of transmission speed up to 12 times, UHD, 5G Broadcast) was finalized. The possibility of using 470-694 MHz to expand TV broadcasting capabilities is being investigated.
- Preparation for WRC-27 (WG RA/WRC): Drafted general proposals and prepared information materials (facilitator materials) on key agenda items.
- Preparation for upcoming ITU-R meetings: Agreed contributions to ITU-R WG 4A (Efficient Use of Orbit/Spectrum for Fixed Satellite Services and Broadcasting Satellite Services) on ESIM issues and other priority areas.
- International Cooperation: Reviewed reports of ITU-R IR 4 (Satellite Services) and Network of Women for WRC-27 (NOW4WRC27) - Olga Mironova, RCC Representative.
- 5G and the Future: The representative of Huawei presented an overview of the work in WG 5D (International Mobile Telecommunications (IMT) Systems), noting progress on the 6425-7125 MHz band and on WRC-27 items 1.7 and 1.13.
In addition, it was decided to start work on the regulation of the usage of subscriber terminals of non-geostationary Fixed Satellite Services and Mobile Satellite Services systems in the RCC Member-States
