Digital Opportunities in Eurasia: Development Projects, Platforms, Regulation

     On March 27, a webinar “Digital Opportunities in Eurasia: Development Projects, Platforms, Regulation” was held, organized by ANO Digital Economy (Russia) together with its partners.

     The discussion focused on the effective use of cooperation mechanisms and the development of a network of partnerships to support, finance and implement promising digital initiatives and projects in the Eurasian space.
 
     The discussion was attended by representatives of the Digital Initiatives Directorate of the Eurasian Development Bank, specialized departments of the Eurasian Economic Commission, the Regional Commonwealth in the FIeld of Communications (RCC), the Autonomous Non-profitable Organization “Digital Economy” and others.

     Alexey Borodin, RCC DIrector General, spoke at the webinar, describing how the Commonwealth assists the region's digital ministries and companies in developing information and communication technologies and ensuring their cross-border nature.

     In addition, the topic of cooperation with UN specialized agencies - the International Telecommunication Union and the Universal Postal Union - on the development of approaches to managing the use of radio frequency spectrum and satellite orbits was raised:

- approaches to the management of the radio frequency spectrum and satellite orbit utilization
- standards in the field of radiocommunication and telecommunications
- Postal regulatory standards, in particular for the activities of marketplaces and logistics companies.

     In terms of coordination of interstate cooperation, close work was noted with:

- Eurasian Economic Commission - to establish fair tariffs for telecommunication services in roaming at the regional level
- CIS Interparliamentary Assembly - on development of model laws and recommendations in the field of digital technologies
- Interstate Council on Antimonopoly Policy - to develop coordinated antimonopoly policy norms at the regional level concerning new and emerging technologies and services in the field of digital platforms, low-orbit communication constellations and others.
