Information Security Commission (Commission) was established in December 2004. The major activities of the Commission are:
Establishment of the Commission allowed ICT specialists to combine their efforts in formulating common position on key targets and objectives, principles and ways of collaboration aimed to improve efficiency and protection of interdepartmental information systems and resources. Within the Commission sharing of information about the state of information security, legal and regulatory frameworks in the Commonwealth countries has been organized, issues of the information and communication systems and networks protection are considered and decisions are made. The Commission also developed a program of the specialists’ qualifications upgrading in this area. To ensure the effectiveness of the Commission, Coordination Council approved the Parent organization for the scientific support of the Commission activities and the public advisory council for scientific and technological affairs. It should be noted that Commission worked a lot on organizing pilot zones of interstate relevant in law electronic interaction with the use of EDS and on improving information protection systems in information and communication systems of the Commonwealth. To establish such zones in 2007-2008 a study was carried out about the possibility to use EDS in the transborder information exchange. The results of this research can be used in the RCC participants’ countries at solving problems of transborder information exchange organization at the state level. A specific step of this work application was the initiative of the Republic of Moldova and the Russian Federation to implement in 2009-2011 a pilot project for organization of protected relevant in law transborder information exchange. It is planned to organize a demonstration of a model of transborder protected relevant in law information exchange of the services at checkpoints across the state border at the airports "Domodedovo" and "International Airport of Chisinau." An important aspect of the Commission’s activities is organization of cooperation with international organizations in the ICT field. The Commission collaborates with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) within the Global Cybersecurity Agenda and works out the possibility of rendering assistance and implementing projects in this area for the RCC participants’ countries. Implementation of the main directions of the Commission's work will contribute to achieving the goals, as well as to the development of interstate relations that have a significant impact on the economic, defense, political, social and other components of the Commonwealth countries security. |
