On 28-29 October 2009 the meetings of the Center of Excellence Steering Committee and the RCC Human Resources Development Commission took place in Odessa (Ukraine). Print E-mail

The meeting of the Steering Committee of the ITU Center of Excellence for the CIS countries (Center of Excellence) was attended by representatives from Azerbaijan Republic, Republic of Belarus, Republic of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Russian Federation and Ukraine as well as representatives of the ITU Telecommunication Development Bureau, ITU Area Office for the CIS countries.

During the meeting the results of activities carried out in 2009 and proposals for 2010 were discussed. Chairman of the Steering Committee informed about the implementation of the decisions/recommendations adopted at the previous meeting of the Steering Committee (28-29 October 2008, Yerevan).

An Action Plan for 2010 which includes 18 actions was discussed and prepared taking account of the project funds. An officer on human resources of the ITU Telecommunication Development Bureau Nksele Mike presented information on the current state of the Center of Excellence global network in the context of ITU-D activities in the human resources development field. Steering Committee considered the ways of the ITU Center of Excellence for the CIS countries sustainability ensuring (quality ensuring, payments collection, the role of coordinators, members of the Steering Committee).

The Steering Committee decided to request the ITU: to continue realization of the second phase of the project “Center of Excellence for the CIS countries” for 2010, to approve the Action Plan consisting of 18 training actions carried out within the framework of the Center of Excellence in 2010.

ТRCC Human Resources Development Commission discussed higher education reform and development of legal and regulatory framework for this work implementation in the CIS countries; experience of applying new tools and ways to increase the effectiveness of teaching in training centers was considered; report on the progress of the R&D work “Study of distance education systems in the RCC participants’ countries” execution was heard; results of the RCC Human Resources Development Commission activities were summarized and areas of its activities for the future were defined; proposals for improvement of the RCC existing structure with a view to expenses optimizing were prepared, etc.

Members of the Commission noted the successful holding of the 7th International Scientific-Technical Conference of Students, Postgraduates and Young Professionals from the RCC participants’ countries (2009, Almaty) and found it useful to continues the practice of their organization. It is planned to hold the next conference in 2011.

Членами Комиссии было отмечено успешное проведение в 2009 году в г.Алматы
7-й Международной научно-технической конференции студентов, аспирантов и молодых специалистов из стран участников РСС и признано целесообразным в дальнейшем их организацию через 2 года. Следующую конференцию намечено провести в 2011 году.

Commission members proposed to hold the 21st meeting of the RCC Human Resources Development Commission and the 7th meeting of the Steering Committee of the ITU Center of Excellence for the CIS countries in September-October 2010.
